I find it hard to accept that life is all about getting a job. No one's really happy anyway. I've heard my fair share of the high and mighty still complaining about their lives at the end of it.
So why are we still encouraged by our high school teachers to pursue this empty goal? Why do our parents still emphasize the material rather than the spiritual? Yeah, even Christian parents.
No wonder my generation is the way we are today.
But what can we do? What can I do?

The goal is to be contented. As most of these richoes get richer, their wants get BIGGER... umm... I mean needs.
ReplyDeleteIt's a neverending chain effect. Lest they learn to get richer but maintain their wants (needs) at an average manner, THEN they'll be truly rich. XD
I feel the same as you man...especially in chasing our never-ending dreams and desires..
ReplyDeleteLike myself and my blog, when I first started out, I would be happy if there's someone reading it. But now I guess I want more, sigh, you get the picture...
About Christian parents or not, it has to do with the parent's mentality and their own goals or ambitions, can't really put in Christianity into the picture...I know of some Christian parents who's really good, as in not pressuring their kids, stuff like that, but I think we all know there are some nasty Christian parents out there, you know who. It's nothing to do with their religion, what's in their head are displayed through their actions...
I guess it's the our asian culture. Christian or not, our parents are still very asian, and culture and religion are two different things. I guess it's how our ancestors worked really hard in order to get a comfortable life. Our parents want us to have a comfortable life and to them getting a good job is the only way.
ReplyDeleteWhich is really sad because most of us asian kids aren't actually studying because of our passion of learning and seeking knowledge. I know I'm not. Heck, I'm doing a business degree. Har har har.
Alas, I believe this ain't the end of the road. Just get that freaking job first, and then later pursue our dreams. It's never too late.
BTW, LAM, I can't comment on your blog lah. Why ar?
