iPod Video 30GB (Black) Unboxing Pictures!
Came back from the Kit Kat 'Break for the Better' Competition prize giving ceremony a few days back and looky here, I have me a new iPod to add to the collection. I kinda broke the rules this time by naming it. I usually am not like that, but somehow I felt compelled this time. Its the latest genaration iPod Video 30GB - Meet Dark Chocolate.
The Story
We stepped into a medium sized room that looked like those conference rooms you would see in hotels, nice red carpet with chairs arranged to face the front. Couple of those rectangle long tables with snacks (guess what kind of snacks), and the projector showing every winning entry on the big screen.
We were second to arrive and was greeted warmly. Just before the ceremony started, had a little conversation with one of the top bosses, Mr Andrew, and he was damn eager to share with me a story about my entry.
'...You know, we had some regional managers recently, the big shots, and we had been having serious meetings one after another. So we decided to show some of the videos of the final 8. We showed yours just after the last meeting and when you came out screaming, everyone laughed! They were really amused! Totally original stuff you had there...'
The Review
Had the 60GB all this while, so when holding this baby, it does feel significantly thinner. I am trying my best to take care of this one now, hoping to keep it smudge-free/scratch-free. So far, its suppose to be brighter and has a longer battery life compared to my 1st gen iPod Video, but honestly, I can't feel the difference as yet. Maybe the screen is a little bit brighter. Everything else is identical. And definitely the black has this wonderful aura about it, just sexeh

This Sunday
Moments before dinner with my family. It has kind of become a weekly thing where she and I go for dinner with my parents and lil' sister. Maybe steamboat? She has taken her once-in-four-months hair cut. Bowling was kind of nice just now, accept that my whole lane didn't even bother to play properly -_-"

iPhoto Tip Number #9,789
If your iPhoto seems to be malfunctioning - thumbnails missing, sluggish performance when scrolling etc etc, try this little tip out courtesy of Apple's Support.
Hold down command + option when clicking on the iPhoto application. This will bring up a menu where you can rebuild the icons, database or just the whole library.
If you've been manually deleting files in your iPhoto folder to get it to rebuild the library, then this tip is going to be schweet~

A Certain Kind of Story
I have a soft spot for a good love story. I don't know why, under all the artsy fartsyness of me, myself, I am able to be sympathize with the characters, especially when it doesn't work out and the ending is a massive letdown. I'm a sucker for depressing situations I guess. I think I have a problem with feeling happy, rather, being happy. I struggle with this on a daily basis. You know, being happy just because...
A certain Malaysian film made me think about what I really love recently. Do I really love to love and to be able to love forever? or do I love to love and have that same love not work out eventually? You see, you can't be heart broken, if you don't put it on the line in the first place.
This reminds me of something someone said about me - why is he so complicated?

Die MSN Die! [UPDATE]
Normal chat, video Chat, audio Chat, clean interface by default, unlike the stupid MSN messenger that the whole of asia seems to love so much. I used to video chat with she, and it was a horrendous experience... You know they've gone too far when you have even ads in your contact list! and don't get me started on how cluttered and ugly the chat window is...
Well, if you use Windows, and never heard of Skype before, please go and try it out. If you already have a skype account (I most probably don't have yours), please give it to me somehow.
My dream is for all of us to just stop using MSN and start using real quality chatting programs like Skype! I have 2 words for all of you that are still not sure about it... COOOME OOON~~! nyehnyehnyehnyehnyehnyeh
[UPDATE] Ok everyone, I think I have to make myself clearer. I'm still using MSN, but if you guys have a Skype account, do let me know, or search for Joshua Chay. My Skype contact list is quite empty =P

Take It Like A Big Girl!
So I have a friend who recently discovered she's a little peppermint pattish. So this is my letter to she.
To my dear friend in denial,
This is your fate, just accept it.
Your honest friend,
Joshua
I just thank God that I don't have my medium length hair anymore, if not I'll look like this every time I walk beside her

Decepticons Fight Back! with the amazing power of MP3
Anyway... remember the Decepticon, Sound Wave? The dude with the tape player for a chest and could spurt out 2 mini Decepticons that would transform into a wolf and another a bird? He was like the undercover guy that would be able to infiltrate the Autobots and find out what they were up to, like if Prime was having a major headache.
Okok... whats the whole point of this post? Its to say a big dumb-blond-OMG to this new MP3 player that, dare I say, kicks all of my iPods assess! Its Sound Wave, instead of the tapes, he plays MP3s now. You can put an SD Card into his chest for all the music, and best of all, he still transforms. If I could get one, I would. Clicky

So thanks for voting for me if you did and for entertaining my little 15 seconds of fame in the process. I never knew that you guys would go through all the trouble, so for that, I owe you guys. Any of you need my voting for anything next time, just let me know... ahahaha..

Benevolent Irrelevance
How do you know when you've become irrelevant?
Is is when people don't seem to want to be with you anymore? Is it when all the chatter is directed all around you but never to you? Is it when you start to think that you can never have a real relationship with someone? A kind of comfort next to you, knowing that you can pour out your soul, and it would be caught?
We spend our life finding for a place to belong - the fortunate find permanence, the rest of us are considered lucky if we could even get a glimpse of where to go

Introducing Another Friend, A Real Friend - Petrina!
I think this is a perfect picture to help me introduce to you my fellow UCSI inmate, Petrina! Enjoying our cuppa at ye'Old Town Kopitiam outside UCSI, I decided to do some photoboothing with ms patooties and the kash. Notice her huge tongue and big front teets. Not forgetting her tiny eyes, nothing compared to mine! Love the nose job Prakash.
If you're wondering to yourself there, is life that great at UCSI?
YES! if you're comparing to my past life in KDU...

Let Me Introduce To You A Friend Of Mine - Gestalt
So this is the assignment that I finished early. Its about the Gestalt Principles - Similarity, Proximity, Closure and Continuation. I decided to whip out the camera and finish up my assignment with it. I came up with 4 final pictures that fit those principles nicely. Lecturer was happy (read: impressed) and I could move on to other work early. Works both ways.
All in all this assignment has a value of more than $4,000 counting the iPods and Walkman. Fruits cost me $5. Toothpicks and stapler, both $0. Below each picture I've include all the bulls**t rationale (that we have to provide with our work) for any interested soul, itching to see the innards of a Visual Communication project.
Proximity
"Move Over Grandpa"
I wanted to depict how mp3 players have taken over portable cassette players and what better way than to put a couple of iPods and line them up facing away from a Walkman? This principle is shown by the iPods standing together as well as the distance between them and the Walkman.
Similarity
“A building made of sticks”
My intention was to bring your eyes to see a big picture that was formed by small, seemingly insignificant objects, in this case, it would be the toothpicks forming a fragile building. There are no other elements for the viewer, just the toothpicks and how in all its mundane repetition, a bigger, more significant picture can be seen.
Closure
“Froots”
Closure is all about leaving something to the imagination, it is all about having an image so incomplete that it seemingly doesn’t make any sense until you realize that it does resembles something, and then it all makes sense. I chose fruits because I wanted something natural, something that would offset the other pictures in terms of the feelings that it gives. There’s something about fruits and I think it is a good choice to represent this principle. It is something that everyone would know and be able to relate to. And that is what this principle is all about, being able to see the picture through the eyes of familiarity and experience.
Continuation
“Damn Staples”
Follow the staples and you’ll see that it comes from a stapler. Lame? But point proven! It is a simple illustration of following something till it reaches the point of origin. It could’ve been applied to many situations, bread crumbs leading to the slice of bread, cookie crumbs leading to the cookie, biscuit crumbs leading to biscuits, but I decided staples would just be easier to clean up.
