air, not air

The just announced, Macbook Air from Apple. My Macbook Pro is going to feel fat tonight.

Wider trackpad which makes way for iPhone-esque touching on the Macbook Air

Back-lit, full sized keyboard

Ports are bare minimum, there is no optical drive as well. From left to right: headphones, usb and micro-dvi. It flips back up to be hidden away when not in use. Reminds you of those front panels from the old fat televisions, in a good way of course.

A slightly different looking magsafe port. Fits the entire design very nicely.

Well, words are not enough. So head on over to Apple's Macbook Air page now for the complete specifications and more pictures (website)

  2. It's really tempting, but if you really check out the specs, I think this laptop is really not for people like us.

It'll be perfect for the 'datin' types, but it's just too limiting to be used as your main machine.

  3. yeah, i was reading up on it, and watching the user Guide by John, i think i would be severely limited by this machine.

    ONE USB PORT! ONE!

I have 2 USB extenders as it is already. My hard drives alone take up 4 ports. So, there goes any chance of my owning an air. Although, the Air would make a great 2nd/3rd laptop, that we could carry around with more ease and comfort. But still, for that price, I don't think it would make any sense. I don't see sales of Air being anything close to good. Too many power-users out there at the moment.

But, I am seriously thinking of getting the new mac pro some time this year. Of course, let me get my job first. lol

The single USB port is a loud message to potential buyers. It's not suppose to be a power machine. It's suppose to be the epitome of portability and that's it. But I think Jobs is also rationalizing that our lives are very much wireless now that this laptop is perfect for this time.

It looks more like I could put it at the end of stick and use it as an axe, lol
